Two years ago I posted a request for donations for a Jr. High scrapbooking club for a low income population school. The response from two peas members was wonderful and I received about 10 boxes of various supplies. The kids were always amazed when I explained how people from all over the country donated for their class. I have run my afterschool club for two years on those donations, but unfortunately our supplies are running low. So I thought I would send out another request for anyone who was looking for an excuse to purge their scrapbooking supplies. I have mostly girls who are involved, about 5 to 8 each 9 week grading period, and their ages are from 13-15 but we do get the occassional boy signing up. We can use anything, as I try to get them to think outside the box and experiment with color and texture. If you are interested in helping us out for the upcoming year then please send me a message in my peamail and I will reply with the address you can mail supplies to. Thanks so much for taking the time to read our request.

Would you be interested in stamps & ink pads? They are the old Stampin' Up pads (before the flip covers came out). I have the whole set of 48 plus all the re-inkers and quite a bit of matching 8.5x11 papers. I also have a big iris case of wood mounted stamps.

Any and all donations are helpful. The kids do use the stamps. I had never been a huge fan of them but they seem to love them. As for what other type of supplies, honestly anything. Paper, punches, borders, glue or photo adhesives, embellishments, ribbon, brads, etc. They are using it all. In fact, their pages can get quite gaudy..LOL! As I usually supply anything they want or need that we don't have I wont turn anything down.

I'd love to make a donation! We're moving, so this is good timing for me!

Do you have any use for idea books? I'd love to donate a copy of two of my book(s)!

Do you care how old the paper is or if there are duplicates? I used to own an online store and have packs of the same paper, etc.

Duplicates are fine because the kids change every nine weeks. Many times it's good to have duplicates because one kid sees someone else layout and wants to do something just like it. Anything is great. We are open to whatever we get. If you'll send me pea mail I will give you my address. Thanks, dawn

I'd like to know how you got the Club started? My son is going into Jr High this coming school year and I think this would be a neat thing to do...we are as well a low income school and I would like to see the kids doing something like this than....get into something they shouldn't!

As for how the club started....I am an 8th grade math teacher. Four years ago our principal conceived the idea to have an after school club. Many of our students were going home to empty houses and increased gang activity. Our students were always looking for excuses to stay at school instead of going home. We named the club Livewire, and teachers volunteer to teach different classes different days. We have cooking classes, archery, card making, tennis, board games, mad scientists, recycling teams, scrapbooking etc. it's been great for our school. Before each grading period the kids fill out an application with their top three choices and get a parent signature. Then the lady in charge assigns classes based on what the teacher has given as the maximum limit of kids the can teach... I think the biggest issue is the buyin from administration. I have had several girls with anger management issues and gang affiliations take my class and tell me how relaxing scrapbooking is and really get involved. Its fun to see them take an interest in something that allows u to see the softer side of them.

I know you can use anything and everything, but do you have some specific wants that we might be able to send to you? Alpha stickers, even partially used? Adhesives? Do you have a manual die cutter? What size pages do they do?

Most of the students use 12x 12 paper because I can usually catch a sale and start them off with a scrapbook that size. We don't have any manual die cutting machines. We do have some holiday and border punches. They use chip boards, brads, flowers and alpha letters quite a bit. They like buttons and bling embellishments. Honestly, they have been using the donations I got two years ago and things I found on clearance at michaels and hobby lobby and they don't complain. They are always just so grateful that it's available to them. I even had a mom join her daughter a couple of times so she could scrap some of her pictures.

Too bad you are so far away. It would cost a fortune to send my purged supplies.
I have a BIG box of paper plus other items. The paper is at least 2 feet high.

Too bad you are so far away. It would cost a fortune to send my purged supplies.
I have a BIG box of paper plus other items. The paper is at least 2 feet high.
If anyone is willing to spend about $11.35, you can fit 12 x 12 paper into a medium size Flat Rate box, . I have sent over 10 boxes that way and everyone states that the paper arrives undamaged, the boxes weigh about 15-17 pounds.

Here goes: how to stuff the box.
Priority Mail Medium Flat Rate Box-O-FRB2 11 7/8 x 3 3/8 x 13 5/8 for 12 x 12 papers: how to pack it.
Put the box together and close the end with the zip opener
Cut pieces from an old box that is the same size as the ends, the flap closures, push one down to the bottom of the box end that is closed.
Stuff a large plastic bag to the bottom.
If you have a stack or some chipboard 12 x 12, put that in first, it is tight. Or use the other side of the box that you cut the pieces for the ends.
Add as much paper/cardstock as you can. (It may bulge a bit but that is ok.) Kits in plastic will not fit
Stuff both sides with extra stuff and/or plastic bags.
Then add smaller stuff and another crumpled plastic bag on the top.
Add another of the pieces that you cut on the top.
Seal the box....
It really is important to add the extra pieces inside the ends of the box, makes it much harder to crush the box.
For smaller amounts of paper/cardstock, you can put that in catty-corner, but still use the added end pieces, but you also need to add stuff to support the papers.

Because the paper/cardstock is not directly in the corners, remember you stuffed plastic bags in the ends, it protects the corners of the papers.

You're more than welcome. I have packed too many of those boxes! As I stated above, I have been told by everyone that there were no damaged corners on the paper/cardstock, so it is worth the effort.

We just moved to a new house and I'm getting ready to purge my supplies...I haven't scrapped in I don't know how long! I worked with low-income, at-risk students as a teacher for years, and I must say that that's where my passion lies. I would live to help you out! Im going to have tons to give to you, and I'll even talk to my mom about donating some of her stash! Yay!

I'm pretty sure I donated to your group a couple years ago. And I do remember you posting pics of the kids and their work.

This is a great thing you're doing for this kids. I'd love to donate again. We're looking at a possible move and I am in purge mode with everything.

Pm your address and I'll start gathering stuff. It will probably be the middle/end of July before I can get anything to you.
